This year there are eleven Nybyggare who in good spirits are plowing the good earth of America – without forgetting Sweden and their beautiful language of course. Focus in the Nybyggar group is to develop all student’s ability speak and write Swedish, by listening, talking, reading and writing. It is important for these children to keep up and develop their vocabulary and practice making sentences. It is also important to have fun during class – it definitely makes learning easier. The students in the Nybyggar group are very nice and active!

And THIS is Rickard: 

Rickard is the teacher in the Nybyggar group. Rickard grew up in Kalmar and has also lived in Lund and Stockholm for longer periods of time. Rickard moved to Massachusetts in August of 2001 with his family, wife Elizabeth and three kids, Thor, Stig and Lily. All the children are of coursed enrolled in the Swedish School. Rickard is an engineer and he works within telecommunication. Rickard used to be the secretary on the board of theSwedish School during 2004-2007, and he is a teacher since the spring of 2006. "It is a pleasure to be able to support the children in developing and keeping their Swedish. Language skills and an understanding for Swedish culture is something they will cherish throughout their lives", Rickard says with a smile.
